Meet your Oxygen Challenge 7 Biggest Team Player winner: Jana Redwine-Landfried!
Age: 41
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Occupation: Physician Assistant
Team: Venus Lau
Redwine-Landfried entered this challenge tired, both mentally and physically. She’s been active her whole life, but was feeling drained from her “all in, all the time” mentality. This challenge came as she’s settling into her 40s and balances family with her career as a physician’s assistant – both of which are centered on caring for others.
“I spend my days taking care of others,” she said. “It’s important for me to take care of myself, too.” Venus Lau’s programming offered Redwine-Landfried an opportunity to swap intensity for thoughtful movement — a functional approach to fitness that posed a real challenge despite her athleticism.
Prior to the challenge, you’d find Redwine-Landfried on a run or lifting in her home gym, so the learning curve for Lau’s program was quite steep. “I was truly a beginner this challenge season,” she said, adding that the hardest part was nailing the isometric workouts.
She didn’t have to make major changes on the nutrition front, however. She connected instantly with Lau’s nutrition philosophy of food as fuel. “I’ve always been intentional with never demonizing any food or food group,” she said.
Though Redwine-Landfried had completed an Oxygen Challenge before, she has been quite shy in the community Facebook group. Sharing progress pictures and opening up about personal hardships can be quite intimidating when it’s done in front of 500+ strangers, after all. But she took a step into uncharted waters this year, and decided to frequently post and connect with other like-minded women in the group. “What I thought would be fun to see my own progress really turned into me becoming aware and active in other people’s process,” she said.
Just 90 days later, Redwine-Landfried found herself “functionally fit with a newfound appreciation for the mind-to-muscle connection.” She’s pain-free, faster and stronger, and said that being recognized as the Biggest Team Player was truly the icing on the cake. Since completing the program, Redwine-Landfried has continued to utilize the floor work and mobility moves from Venus’ program and remained connected to a core group of women, three of whom she met in person this year.

Jana’s Favorite Meal
